Mary practiced law in Houston for more than a dozen years after earning her juris doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center, handling a wide array of responsibilities for Vinson & Elkins, BSG Corp., Nathan Wood & Summers, Woodard Hall & Primm, and Baker & Hostetler. At that latter firm, she rose to the position of partner in the Business Group. Her legal education included a special program in Mexico City, in which she focused on international trade, international banking and immigration issues. In her extensive legal career, Mary teamed with other lawyers on New York stock exchange securities offerings of as much as 10 billion dollars and lead commercial real estate sales worth half a billion dollars. Mary, who earned her undergraduate degree in English from Rice University, lives in the Woodlands with her husband and two daughters.
